Dobb's Happy Tail

Hi Mary,

I wanted to give you an update on Dobbs-y. We're getting along very well. As you said, he's a very sweet fellow. He and Sasha seem to like each other well enough. He's a very good eater! He loves to swim (we have a pond-kind of a clay pond, but with fish and frogs and deep enough for him to swim in). He was very careful the first day to test the depth around the edges, etc. Then Sasha jumped in to show him that it's great and he's enjoyed it ever since. We're going to have to keep him on a leash or just watch him for a while tho, because he got out over to my neighbor's today while I was in the garden. She got him into her fenced area so we could come and leash him. Don't know yet where he escaped, but like the sheep, I guess, if there's a hole or weakness in your defenses, they'll find it!!
He seems smart, as you said too. We had to go away today for a bit and he managed to open a bottle of herbal vegies --didn't eat any, just spilled them on the rug. Gotta get him some toys I think. We have a nice big knuckle bone that he's enjoying and sharing with Sasha.
We'll make an appt. for the Wheaton vet place this week.

Thanks for fostering these guys!!

Yours, Pat Lamesch

Ollie, formerly Swayze

My husband and I adopted Ollie about a year ago and we could not be happier. We looked for many months for the perfect dog, and the instant we met Ollie we knew he was meant for us. Initially, he was a bit scared and hesitant, but it didn't take him to warm up to his new home. When we brought him home he didn't seem to know what treats were and wasn't sure what to do with toys. As you can see from the picture, he learned fast!! He loves toys and playing, and also thinks he's a lap dog and can frequently be found in the armchair on my husband's lap. He has no idea that he weighs 60 pounds. He is the joy of the neighborhood children, whom he is so gentle and loving with. He also loves car rides, as we frequently take him to Michigan to visit our family. He is the fastest learner and has picked up many tricks and commands since we brought him home.
For anyone thinking of getting a shelter dog, I simply can't say enough good things about Magnificent Mutts. The whole process of adopting him went smoothly and the staff at Magnificent Mutts were so nice and helpful. They are so great at fostering the dogs and forming connections that really help you get to know your dog before you bring him home. We could not have asked for a more perfect dog for us. We wanted to thank you, Magnificent Mutts, and let you know that Ollie is very loved and happy (and maybe just a little spoiled.) :)

Ty formerly Zeus

My family is so complete since Ty has joined us. I can do without the biting but we work with him everyday. His favorite toy is an empty two litter pop bottle and he loves to play in his pool. He is completely potty trained. No accidents in weeks. Ty is full of energy which tires us both out.
I can not imagine life with out him.
Thank you
Jill U.

Bailey's Home

Dear MagMutts,
Bailey here, (formally known as "Poof",) writing to say how much I love my new home with my awesome family! I have a mom and dad and a sister too, (although my sister's "meow" sounds a little peculiar.) I'm just starting to loose all my teeth, so it's tempting to chew everything in sight, but I'm such a good girl about staying away from the furniture and keeping my teeth on my toys! My mom and dad keep telling me what a good girl I am because I haven't had an accident in the house in 2 weeks. I think that's a good thing? I also know how to walk on a leash, sit, lie down, shake, stay, and come when they call my name. (I'll keep doing those things if they keep giving me yummy treats to eat and ice cubes to play with!) They tell me they're pretty proud, especially since I've only been home for a little over a month now.
We go to the park sometimes too, where I get to play with my new dog friends! I'm still a little nervous at first, but once I let them sniff me, all I want to do is run around and play! A big dog slobbered all over my little head this morning, so I'm getting something called a "bath" tonight. (I wonder if I'll like that?) Hopefully I'll be big like that other dog someday; I'm still only 16 lbs.! I don't know if I'm really a lab or not. Mom and dad call me their "Mystery Puppy" because they're not so sure what I'll turn out to be! I don't think they care too much either way. :)
Well, I'm all tuckered out, so I'm going to go take one of my 3 hour long naps in my pile of toys, er, bed now.
Oh, and thank you for taking care of me until I found my way home! <3
Woof,
Bailey

licorice

hello i would like to say thank you for all of you at mag mutts for all that you do,and for all the animals you have helped. i coulldnt imagine what it would be like without angels like yourselves. My family adopted licorice last july .We were told he was a shepard /lab mix. but we think he might be irish wolfhound mix. anyway it doesnt matter what he is he has turned out to be the best dog ever! His new name is Buehrle . we named him that cause
we found him online the day Mark buehrle of the Chicago whitesox pitched his perfect game. The name suits him well as you will see in his pictures he looks a bit burly. He loves people and other dogs. He has been named the ambassador of the doggie park.sometimes i wonder who saved who. i was having some health problems when we got him . i also quit smoking and gained about forty pounds. well buehrle loves to go for walks at this park close to our house there are always lots of dogs there for him to play with . well i couldnt ever let a day go by that i didnt take him there . we walked all winter long . He loves to run . well as a result of this i am in much better shape and have lost most of the weight i have gained. He is a real goof ball and brings so many smiles to our faces . we love him so much and couldnt imagine life without him.thank you agian for all that you do.
