Toni

Hi Annie,
Hope you're feeling better since we last spoke, the rep provided me with Toni's background and asked me to give an update. I felt she was a little traumatized, so felt it best to just provide, reassure and let her come to me on her own. I renamed her Sprite, she is so beautiful, loving, affectionate and is comfortable enough now to explore her new surroundings. I cared for a disabled son for many years until he was placed in a nursing home, I believe we ae a good fit and love having her here...thank-you.
Happy holidays to you and yours!

P.S. She likes Joel Osteen, music and watching tv (:t

Opus

Merry Christmas Michelle!
Last night Daniel was writing an essay and I was on half of his lap for about 10 minutes. I am doing great, my owners love me. I had my testicles removed almost 2 weeks ago and just got out of the prison of the cone of shame. I'm sleeping much better again and Dave and Darlene are so happy with me because I'm sleeping all night. I sleep in their room in my kennel with the door open.
I can't remember the last time I had an accident in the house, maybe before I got my testicles removed.
Thank you again for taking such good care of me and letting my owners adopt me. Josh and Daniel tease me that I've gotten so much bigger I may be fat. My vet thinks I'm healthy. I haven't gone on a 3 mile walk in over a week because the family has been so busy getting ready for "Christmas." I have no idea what it is, but Darlene and Dave put up a tree in the living room that has lights and stuff hanging on it. The best part is there is a wood Nativity set made from olive wood all the way from Israel. I keep on tasting it and trying to chew it . I don't understand why Darlene gets mad at me when she finds the wood pieces on the floor. She put it at my level and I really like to chew wood.
Anyway, I just wanted to say "hi" and let you know I haven't forgotten you and my owners think about you often and how blessed they are that I got to be part of their family.
Love,
Opus

Eyore

Hi Michelle!

Just wanted to write you a quick Eeyore update. Overall, I think things are going very well! Balki is being extremely patient and gentle with the puppy. He's still not super playful, but they do have their moments sharing a rope for tug of war (and despite having about 60 pounds on Eeyore, Balki makes the little guy think he's putting up a a good fight). Balki used to sleep in our room with us at night, but now he sleeps downstairs next to eeyore's crate.

Eeyore is sleeping through the night and now that we've established a routine, he's not having accidents in the house (unless mom is too slow figuring out the harness after eating and he just can't hold it! Mom learned the hard way - put the harness on before you feed him!)

We're still working on the puppy biting, but that will come with time. He's already learned the Christmas tree is not a chew toy and he seems to pick up new things quickly. He's got his name down - next is "outside" and "sit".

We are absolutely thrilled with Eeyore. He's a lot of work, as puppies are, but he seems to be adjusting well and very happy! He's the perfect addition to our family!

Duke formerly Jay

Here is Duke 4 months later after I adopted him.  The first two weeks were not the easiest for me and my family but he's over come some of his issues.  There's one that he's still working on but its a work in progress and I'm aware that things don't just happen over night.  He's a great dog and we love him a great deal. I'm hoping to give him a long happy life just like my last dog Lucky.
Merry Christmas to all the folks at Mag Mutts and all their followers.

Derby from Lebanon

Annie,

Derby has really taken to us and our neighborhood. His personality is great and we are really blessed to have him. He is in his 4th week of training now and loves his treats and the runs that we take (the 1st picture is about 20 minutes after we get home from a run).

Regards,

Ian

Abby aka Janet

Hello!
This is Abigail a.k.a. Abby (formerly Janet) whom we adopted on Nov 28. She is doing wonderfully in her new home and is crazy about her big brother Sparky! She has been to the vet and gotten her next set of vaccines, and her fecal sample was clear. She even got a little face trim and her nails trimmed by the groomer.
When we got her, she had never been outside before, but after a week of observing her big bro she started going potty outside in the yard yesterday! Sparky is teaching her to play politely (without biting) and as the picture shows, they have bonded well. Abby eats well and sleeps all night. We have submitted a DNA test for her to find out just what breed mix she is, and should have the results around Christmas. I will let you know what it tells us!
We all love our new little girl; she brings joy to us on a daily basis.

Amour

Just thought I would share Amour's Birthday picture. Since we didn't know Amour's exact birthday we decided Nov 30th would be her birthday. She will have been with us a year in Feb 2015. She still makes us laugh, and brings us so much joy. Everyone says she is totally spoiled with love, attention, treats and toys.

Thanks again,
Heather

Mya

We picked up Mya from Wayne on 9/11/14. At 7months, 43 lbs, she is quite the busy little girl. Being a Beligian Malinois and still basically a puppy, if you don¡¦t keep her busy she will find something to do. And most of the time you won¡¦t like it.
We have been working with her walking skills along with agility and obedience commands. With a few tricks worked in to mix things up a bit. The cats are a continuing work in progress. Most of the time the poor cats come out a little slobbering wet from being licked and fleeced to death by Mya.
The neighbors have a few dogs which all run loose, one of which was a husky named Chance that would come over and we let him in our fenced yard to play. They got along great until he went missing two weeks ago. She¡¦s a bossy girl, but he was teaching her some dog-dog manners for usƒº since our dogs are old and don¡¦t want to play with her.

Mya

Wayne
Got no photos doing agility yet. But here are some shots. The husky is the neighbors dog who has gone missing for a week now. Would let him in the fenced yard with Mya for dog to dog training. And ware her down a bit. They just let the dogs loose 24/7, sad, he was a good dog.

Bogart aka Ringo

Hello! Just sending a little update on Ringo who has now been renamed Bogart. I have attached some pictures

Happy Tail

Hi Michelle --

As you can see, it has been almost two years since I adopted Smeagol (aka Sting). He is doing so well! When I took him home, he weighed only 2.4 lbs (he was the litter runt) and now he is a big boy at 30 lbs. Super tall and skinny. The vet thinks he is part greyhound! Attached is a current photo. I just wanted to touch base and let you know he was doing well!

-Meg

Strip Mine 1 now Meg

Hi Michelle,
I thought if send you a quick update on Strip Mine 1 (her name is now Nutmeg
"Meg"). She is settling in great, growing and loves our other dog Bella. We did
one of those DNA tests in her & it came back with Belgium Malinois, Chinese
Shar-Pei, Chow Chow mix and mixed breed for her grandparents. Interesting
mix... She's a good girl and we're enjoying her.

Take Care,
Lisa Witek

Hudson is right at home!

I came to your event at Petco recently and initially had my heart set on a Wheaten Terrier that was up for adoption, but was running a few minutes late to the event. When I arrived, the dog I was interested in had already been adopted. Slightly disappointed, I decided to wander around the Petco to find treats and toys for my other dog and stumbled on a cute as can be dog that had a Blackhawks jersey on. I was complimenting the woman who had him on how cute he was and asked what kind of dog she had. She told me they guessed he was a Lab/Greyhound mix, but that they couldn't really be sure. I leaned down and began petting the cute, little guy and looked into his eyes and instantly fell in love. He was happy and super friendly. I just knew I had found my dog.

I've had Hudson for just over a week now and he's doing wonderful in his new home and getting along with his new sister, Mazie (a rescued Cairn Terrier). He's having a blast with his new dog friends at the dog park, playing in my backyard, and snuggling up in bed. He insists on sleeping right against me at night and follows me everywhere I go. I've always believed that everything happens for a reason and I definitely believe showing up late to the event was exactly as it was supposed to be. Thank you to the foster family who kept Hudson warm and safe until he found his permanent home. :)

Duke formerly Jay

On Father's Day this year I lost my best friend Lucky to a brain tumor.  I wanted to wait for a period of time to grieve for him but when I looked around the house I notice how empty it seemed not having a dog.  I kept telling myself wait you'll find another one that will fill the void but not replace the one dog that I loved so much.  Well I was scrolling through my Facebook and came acrossed a beautiful Greman Shepherd that Linda had just posted.  She said it would be in on August 19th so I decided to take a look at him, plus foster him to see if it would work.  It was a ruff start.  He peed on my carpet, growled at my husband but only at night and I wanted to give up with in the first week.  Oh and I forgot the most important part he wouldn't eat, so I started feeding him a raw diet which he eat like crazy.  He finally decided he was going to eat the kibble that I initially bought and now he is doing great.  He's gaining weight slowly but it will take time to put the weight on that he needs without making him fat.  I love him to pieces and he is doing a lot better with my husband.  He's a great dog, thank you Magnificent Mutts and all your volunteers for all you do.

Happy Birthday Molly!!

Shila

We've had Shila for over a month now. Her coat is just gorgeous - still has a long way to go for her to look like an official collie, but we are on our way. Put some weight on her - she's just a little over 53 lbs. She has laser treatments weekly for her injured hip.

Loves to chase the ball - never retrieves but she has fun , none the less, running after it.

Lucius

Hi Marta,

He seems quite happy. I'm not sure he can get any more active. lol He's definitely warmed up to his new home and was bouncing off the walls this morning. He even jumped in the shower when I was getting out. He's a lot of fun and snuggled with me for most of the night. He's not having any issues with eating or the litter box, and as you know, nothing in the house is off limits to "Curious Lucius"… even the dog and her toys! "

Ana now Molly

Hi Courtenay,

Just wanted to share a few pictures of Molly (Ana) and give you an update. She's been in her new home a little over a month and we say all the time how lucky we were to get such a great puppy. She was left out of her crate (on accident) on her 4th day with us for 5 hours after she was let out for lunch and was a perfect angel. She is able to go out in the yard with us without a leash and stays within her yard. She loves walks, she gets to go twice a day and is getting closer and closer each day to making friends with our cats. She was 26lbs when we first got her and is now 34.

Ebony aka Buttercup

7 weeks ago I fell in love with this face! Buttercup, now renamed Ebony, is the sweetest little girl. She knows that she's very cute! I call her my Diva! Our first vet visit we only weighted 5lbs. Weeks later Ebony is now 16 lbs!! She is the most well mannered dog ever. She is potty trained, crate trained, and even knows a few tricks! We have made a big move to Wisconsin due to my job and she is loving all the doggie friends she is making! She sleeps with me at night but makes sure to wake me up at 6 every morning for breakfast! Ebony is loving life and obviously very spoiled! She has such a personality and I couldn't have asked for a better dog! This little girl is my life! Thank you so much!

Shila

Hi everyone ! Just giving you an update on Shila. She's turned into a real Velcro type dog - no matter how many times I get up to do things, she's right behind me. Gets upset on days I can't take her to work but she has Paul (husband) to keep her company since he's retired.

Her coat is growing in nicely and we are slowly but surely putting some weight on her. Her injured leg doesn't keep this girl down - she runs like the wind! Met her doggie cousin, Roo yesterday and let me tell you - she is fast!!! They had so much fun together running in the yard.

She is awesome - doesn't need to be crated at all , though last night I found her sleeping in her crate - first time I've seen her do that. She needs a smidge of training with Stay but otherwise no complaints. I couldn't ask for a more perfect dog and just love her so much!

Shila

We just adopted Shila on Thursday, August 21st and I just wanted everyone to know what a truly wonderful dog she is! Shila (but posted as Sheila) is a tri-color female collie that was an owner surrender. I don't know their circumstances but if that family ever reads this please know that she is loved and just the most perfect dog ever. There is not one bad thing she does. She is very much enjoying her doggie beds and treats, going for walks. She travels great in the car, has met the grandkids and is just wonderful with them. We stopped at Petco to show her off also!

Wayne - it was so nice to meet you. She is just such an angel and we couldn't be happier! I have been looking for the right collie for some time and Shila turned out to be that one. She is so calm and loving that I'm hoping to make her a therapy dog.

Happy Tail

Yohann graduated from beginner education today, and it is only the first step - intermediate and advanced will follow.
He is making great progress. He loves his new home and his three canine companions Ellie, Buddy and Howie. He kisses them on face everyday. He really enjoys riding in a car, walking in a park and......watching movies.
He is doing very good on three legs.
It seems that he is forgetting his missing limb. Thanks for rescuing him and giving him a chance.
Maggie .

Jupiter

"Marta,
Thank you. My little Jupi is such a doll. She is so very friendly and interested in everything. She also is very intelligent and knows that using the scratching post will earn her some treats. She's eating and drinking well and using the litter box."

Thank you

Eddy

We adopted Eddy (formally known as Walker) on 1/4/14, right before the long, cold Chicago Winter. He has filled out nicely and is a beautiful Shepherd. We want to thank whoever had him before us, because they did a terrific job of socializing him. We are sure he must have been loved and want whoever to know that he is still being loved and is an important part of our family. He loves all dogs, big and small, and is always ready for a "Meet and Greet" on his walks around the neighborhood. We have received so many compliments on what a gorgeous dog he is. And you can tell from his picture that is no lie. Not only does he like other dogs, but he is always up for a little petting from the kids in the neighborhood. His favorite is the "booty scratch." In mid-July our town is opening a dog park and you can be sure Eddy will be a regular. Looking forward to spending many years with Ed as part of our family. So happy he came our way! -- John, Cynthia & Zack
