Hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Years.
Sorry its been awhile since we updated you on our new addition.
A few days after our email we had to take Lavender (now Bella) to the vet for a intestinal infection. Our vet said she most likely had had it for a while.
She had antibiotics and is great now. She isn't as shy and has started playing with some toys we got her.
She spins so fast and jumps around leaning like shes going to fall over. It is sooooo cute.
Bella is laying next to our big boy Smokey occasionally and as long as he stays away from her kennel and food she seem to be warming up to him.
She does not like snow or the cold and stands and shakes so I bought her a little coat to keep her warm outside. It has inspired me to buy a woofy dog pattern and make some dog clothes.
I have a ebay store in which I sell dance.gymnastics and volleyball shorts and other things that I make. Who knows, doggies clothing may be next.
Bella has full run of the house except when we leave we confine her to Kara's bedroom where the kennel is. Her demeaner is much more confident. Everyone that meets her falls in love.
She likes to be brushed and bathed....THATS A PLUS....
We couldn't be happier or more in love with this dog.

Our Beautiful German Shepherd Mix died a few months ago, it was very sad for all of us she was almost 13 and it was very sudden... We missed her very much and our 10 month old Beagle mix Basil was very sad and lonely for a friend. We went to petfinder.com looking for a new little friend for Basil and new family member for us. There we found a couple of puppies we were interested in. We filled out an On-line application and went to meet the puppies at the Elmhurst Petco Adoption Event. There we saw Po, Dune and Durham. Durham (now Ellie because my almost 3yr old daughter wanted to name her Elephant and Ellie is Short for Elephant :) ) Anyway Ellie was being very shy and timid while Basil was Happily Playing with her brother Dune and another pup named Po... when all of a sudden Ellie pranced right up to me while I was sitting indian style on the floor and plopped down right in my lap and gave me a kiss. Right then we knew she picked us as her family and was ours. Our whole family just
loves Ellie and Basil won't leave her side. She is a super sweet little girl and a wonderful addition to our family. Everyone at the Adoption Event was very nice and Michelle and Ellie's foster mommy Kathy were very helpful and wonderful. Thank you so much for rescuing our little baby! Without yours and other organizations like yours so many fur babies would be lost.

Cody was part of the litter that contained Theodore, Chip, Dale, and Morgan. We adopted him on October 3rd. Cody has lots of energy, but also loves to cuddle and lay by the fireplace. He loves to play with other dogs, and chase birds in the yard. We found Cody on the Petfinder website approximately 6 weeks after our Minature Schnauzer passed away. He has quickly become a member of the family.

Sasha was adopted at about 3 months of age for my daughter's first pet. From the first time we both laid eyes on her at Petco in Hillside we fell in Love with her. After spending time with Sasha we both decided we really wanted her to be a part of our family and knew she would be a perfect fit! She is so cute, cuddly, has a great personality and is a fun-loving kitten. Sasha has been a great addition to our family and gets along great with her big brother Capone, a 7 yr. old pitbull. Thanks for allowing us to adopt Sasha, she has truly been a perfect addition to our family!

After losing our beloved dog Jewel who was also a rescue in November, we were ready to welcome a new member to our family. We saw Ajax & Angus who are Shar Pei/Boxer mixes and instantly fell in love. We immediately completed the online application and were so excited to be accepted!

The day we met Ajax we decided to name him Baxter and after having him for only 3 weeks he knows his name very well. He is now just about 3 months old and is doing very well with housebreaking and recently learned to go up and down our stairs. He loves our girls who are 9 & 12 and is a fun, loving member of our family now!

Thank you so much for having him in such excellent health and his initial shots up to date. We were able to continue everything with our vet and he is starting his puppy training classes this week. We've told everyone how impressed we are with Magnificent Mutts!

We Love Bolt!

We adopted Bolt on December 17th, 2011 at the PetCo adoption event in Hillside! Bolt was pretty reserved at first, and it broke our hearts to see him shake whenever he got in the car. We knew he didn't want to get dropped off somewhere new again! It made us feel good, though, that he finally had his permanent home. We got Bolt a brand new soft bed for his first night with us, and he seemed SO happy to have his own little spot! Since then Bolt has completely come out of his shell and has given us plenty of laughs! He loves to cuddle and play with his toys. He chases his ball around the house and wrestles with his stuffed bunny every day. He learns new things very quickly and we are excited to start more training with him!

I am a proud mama....but I couldn't resist to give you a few more pictures. The first picture is Tilly the first day we brought her home. She was obviously not cared for in Missouri, her hair was shaggy, and she had a bunch of infections which Magnificent Mutts vets at Elmhurst Vet Clinic gave us medicine for. She is now perfectly fine, and slightly plumper no matter how hard we watch her diet. The next picture is Tilly's first hair cut. She was still shy, but at least she wasn't covered up with hair! And the last picture is Tilly this year in her Christmas dress. She got a ton of compliments! She is just as cute as cute can be....and she knows it!

Happy New Year Magnificent Mutts!!

We adopted Tilly (formerly named Sue), a minitature Schnauzer, in November 2010. She was one of three Schauzers (the others were Sonnet and Sparrow) released from Missouri when Proposition B was passed by 51.9% of the vote. The law forced breeders to meet certain humane standards, including by reducing the number of dogs held for breeding to no more than 50....which doesn't seem like a lot to ask for dogs....

Well, Tilly came to us a mess....and now she is a success!! She trembled terribly at first and refused to walk. She would only stay in a cage and initially she wouldn't come out. We only assume that was what she was use to and felt safe. Over the past year, we have showered Tilly with love, encouragement, and affection. She is a completely different dog! She now has traded her cage for a corner on the couch. She LOVES bones, steals the cat's toys, and dances for us every morning when its time for breakfast. She has fit well into our family. Tilly loves to watch the Bears and Notre Dame football with her daddy. We have 2 cats and she has even been caught cuddling Pepper! Tilly entered our neighborhood Vet Sponsored Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade and won first place by online voters! We now have confirmation that we have the cutest dog in the neighborhood!! :)

She is our joy and we just love her so much! Thanks to Missouri and Magnificent Mutts for bringing us our cute little baby.....our family is now complete and we are excited to new adventures in 2012!

Hi Angie!

I know it's after Christmas, but I thought I would send you a holiday picture / card of the girls I put together [the kitty hats went on sale and I couldn't resist!]. They're not big fans of the hats, so our hands are a little in the shots as we held them still for the pictures. That's our actual 'tree' in the background too, I made it and hung it on the wall since we knew they would probably climb into an actual tree =) I just thought I would share how we've included them in our festivities this year! And since they were good, Santa got them lots of toys for Christmas too, most of which are lost already across the house.

Lexi just went in this Friday to get spayed, so we're keeping an eye on her, but she's doing just fine and wants to wrestle and play like normal. I think we're more worried than she is =) I'm also working on getting her to cover up her mess in the litter box, she just walks away and let's the other two cover it up for her when they happen to smell it, so hopefully she learns her manners before the other two get any ideas!

Nikki is the troublemaker of the house. If something is fallen, torn, missing, or eaten, we all know who did it! We're working on trying to get her to stay off the counters, she knows it's bad to do and she's gotten very close to getting burned on the stove, but foil, water, sprays, and noise haven't worked so far. If you have any suggestions, we're definitely open to them!

And Whiskey is perfect =) She asks for her treats, jumps right into her basket for bed time, and even wakes me up so I'm not late for work. Sometimes she likes to play with her food and make a mess, but we can forgive that the moment she looks at us with her adorable face. She's the best example for the other two, we're just hoping they learn!

Finally, we saw the sign that said that there was no food for the dogs/cats at Magnificent Mutts )= We donated two large bags of cat food on Friday since we saw there was only dog food donations in there. Hopefully that helps you and any of the other cat/kitten foster parents as I can only imagine how much food is needed to keep so many of them full and happy. For this year I'll also be donating $20/month from my check through my employer's tie with United Way. I know it's not a lot, and that it will go to Magnificent Mutts as a whole to share, but I'm hoping it helps and shows just thankful I am for now having my three loveably crazy kitties =)

I adopted Andre on 8/21/11 a week after I lost my other cat. I then adopted Walnut on 12/3/11. Both Andre and Walnut have been such a welcome into my family. Andre and Walnut have been inseparable since I brought Walnut home, whether it's eating together, sleeping together, and playing together. The two get along extremely well and look out for each other.

We just wanted to send a note about Ty (aka Guinness by your shelter in August). Ty has adjusted well to his new home. He enjoys his daily walks and play dates with his many puppy friends in the neighborhood--several of his playmates are rescues, as well). Ty is especially fond of a Lab Husky mix named Daisy (a rescue pup). He had a great Christmas and is showing off one of his new gifts in the attachment above.

We also wanted to let you know Ty was neutered in December by Prairie Oaks Vet Clinic in Normal, IL. I did not know if you needed a copy of a receipt to verify the procedure.

We adopted Tessa in November shortly after we had to put down our 10 year old boxer. It was a hard adjustment for my son as he was very attached to her. Over the last year he has wanted to get a GS because he hopes someday to be a Police Man. So when Tessa became available we drove to Elmhurst for adoption day and I surprised him with her. Tessa has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is full of energy and LOVES to chase the cats....Not sure they are too fond of that but she has fun! She is 8 months old now and thinks she is the "boss" of the house. I have finally convinced her it is okay to come inside from the back yard, but what I haven't convinced her of is that I am not ready to do any landscaping! She loves to dig up my sub-pump and rocks! We are hoping to start some classes next month as I need to be taught some things myself! Thanks again for letting us adopt her as she has been an absolute joy!

He was not nutered before christmas as when they gave him the sedative they found a heart murmer.
Friday he saw the cardeologist and had a scan it is a murmer that he will grow out of. So his surgery to be
nutered is Jan 11.

He graduated puppy class and we are just waiting for the intermediat to start.

We welcomed Chip into our family this July. He has been a wonderful addition to our family. He has completed the Beginner puppy class and the Intermediate Puppy class at Petsmart and graduated with top honoros both times. The trainer assures us that he can go all the way to completing his Good Citizens award. He takes in the newspaper every morning except for Sundays when the paper is too heavy and flat and not in it's portable state like during the week
. He has even learned the "bang bang you're dead' trick. He has a sweet demeanor and he is very attentive. We love our Chip!!

Last November 17th, 2010, we adopted Rafferty from magmutts. He was an adorable little 8 week old pup back then, and is now a beautiful young dog whom we love more everyday.
We remember the picture of him that was used in the ad. He was with many other little pups up for adoption with names like Cider and Sweet Potatoe.They were photographed in what looked like a wicker type basket. We were wondering if there was any chance you still have that photo and if so if you could email us a copy of it.
I've enclosed a current photo of Rafferty (the brown one as it's hard to get pictures without his sisters) if anyone is interested to see how this little pup looks as an adult.

We adopted Arnie from Petco Hillside 10/8/11. He was part of the litter that included alvin ,chip and dale and morgan.

He is doing really well and has just graduated puppy class and is waiting for intermediate class to start. While he is waiting he will have his neutering done.He is still getting used to being a little brother to our older dog.
Hopefully some of his sibblings will be posted on hear.

He has taken a few game playing training classes to curb his naughty side.....he destroyed a section of my brand new couch. That was a $1,000 + chew toy :-/ So we found an upholstery company to come look at it and called the local training facility to enroll chewy in more classes. We are hoping this new behavior is just out of boredom and a need to work. So we plan to work him ;)

Here's a picture of Dude, formerly known as Wille. As you can see, he's a smiley guy. He has fit so well into our home. Monday, 12/26/11 he begins his private training sessions to prepare him for his future as a therapy dog. He has put on some weight, and only one rib is barely visable. The last time weighed he has gone from 62 pounds to 75 pounds and just has a little bit more to go.

Thank you so much for coming out to the Elmhurst Animal Hospital for the adoption event on 12/10/11. Dr. Faeh had invited me to come and check out the kitties after I had lost my Angel just before Thanksgiving. It turned out while I was there that a little someone had picked me to be their new adopted mommy. Zoom Zoom had lept into my hands and I adopted her since she chose me. She has settled into her new home and loves riding on my shoulder, being held, drinking from the bathroom faucet and cuddling under the covers with me at night. She is so precious and cute. Thank you for taking care of her until she found a home.

She has a new name too. I decided to call her Honey because she is so sweet and loving. I have enclosed 3 pictures of her that I thought you would like to have. Thanks again.

Magnificent Mutts,

Thank YOU for our awesome new addition. We did change Willie's name to Dude. I have taken him for his initial check up and discovered he had hook worm. We gave him the treatment & followed up with our regular vet on Wednesday. Hopefully they are gone. He has already put on 8 pounds but has a way to go.

I have arranged for him to get private obedience training in preparation to attend training to become a therapy dog. I think he will really brighten patients' day. His personality is tremendous!

I cannot express what he has brought to us in such a short time. He is a little aggressive with Sasha but is getting better with that every day. I think he is beginning to realize neither she nor anyone else is going to take his food.

I do have many pictures already but want to wait until he is a little fuller to share with you, I think you'll be pleased.

We certainly weren't looking for a pet that Saturday in Sept 2010---just waiting for our car to get fixed. It must have been an angel nudging us toward the Magnificents Mutts event because there was Milo, with a big paws around the neck hug for us. Carrie and her daughters were terrific in telling us all about how Milo fit in as a foster and we will always know that sequence of events was meant to bring us together ! We love him more than we can say and probably spoil him some too. It's our joke that we went for a car battery and came home with a beagle--and the best dog ever. He's so smart, gaduated from dog training with flying colors, fast as the wind, and holds his own playing tug with much bigger dog buddies in the neighborhood. And he still gives hugs. Thanks so much!

I didn't know there was a success story page! Very cool :) We got Rex almost a year ago. He is such a lover, I couldn't imagine life without him. He is an awesome protector and companion. Pilar's Update

We adopted Pilar from the Hillside PetCo Adoption day on August 28th. She was from the litter abandoned in a field and the people driving away from the field were spotted with a black German Shepherd in the truck, possibly Pilar's mom! It looks like Pilar mom's very well may have been that black German Shepherd! She is such a precious dog, we think about 5 months old and almost ready for her spaying. If you think you have her brothers or sisters, please post, we would love to show Pilar that they found good homes too. Thanks!

Hi,

I adopted a dog from you August 6th of this year. Her name was Gretchen since changed to Callie. Just wanted to follow up and let you know that she was just spayed this past Friday.
She has had several vet visits and is very healthy. She is at just about 19 lbs now, grown a lot since we got her at about 8 lbs.

She has been a great addition to our family. Full of energy, loves to play and has taken to training very well. She is also a huge cuddler and loves to lay with people when they are on the floor with her. I attached a pic of her for you to see.

Just wanted to let you know that Trooper aka Middy is adjusting extremely well. He acts like he's been living in our house the whole time. Max our golden is really showing him the ropes. They follow each other around everywhere. Right now as I'm typing this there taking a nap together! :). The very first day they were play fetch. Our Max really missed that after our dog Buddy passed. Love how he sits when he takes a treat! He's a smart and gorgeous little boy! My husband is in awe over him. I'll send you pics and videos soon! Words can't express how meaningful and a joy to have as part of our family! Thanks again!

Update: Here's a photo of the two of them after they were both tired out from playing! Max has been a wonderful big brother to him. They both follow each other everywhere. I adopted Queenie aka Lulu in early October. She is such a treasure. She loves being outside and running in the leaves. When my grandkids come to visit, she just runs and plays all day. It's been a while since Connor's last update so I thought I would send one. He is doing really well! He has fully graduated from his crate however he will still run to the corner his crate was in and lay there as if it was still there....when he has done something bad (like behead all his toys lol). His favorite toy (and the only one that has survived) is his green kong stick. We tried taking the boys to a self serve dog wash and it became comedic so needless to say we found a wonderful groomer that adores the boys. We found a food that he eats well and he is finally packing on the pounds. He runs off all his food in the yard (where he has started a new habit w Murphy of digging holes). We are still working on some of his behavioral quirks but he is improving every day. I sent this pick to show his goofy grin

Samson is doing great! He graduated from PetSmart intermediate class - see corny attachment. That is an Easy Leader on his face. It has been fantastic for walking Samson since he is so strong and way too friendly. I took him to the dog park in Aurora where I'm sure Samson thought he had died and gone to heaven. Samson is so friendly to both the dogs and the people. We chose well!!!

Hi Michelle,
I thought you might enjoy to see a few pics of Bear. He has grown so much already we were at the Elmhurst animal hosp just tonight for family obedience class and he weighs 45lbs!!! He is doing really well in the class and we couldn't be more pleased he is a good boy! We just love him so much already it's crazy!

He loves to play in the leaves, chase squirrels and jog the IL prairie path with me. I love how he looks up at me smiling when we are jogging together. It took lots of patience to train him to walk/run on the leash but with the class help it's now a joy! I can't believe how smart he is for only being 6 months old! Fred our kitty and him are not best friends but they are tolerating each other well.

How is your Bear doing? I know it was touch and go two months ago. I hope Marco has found new foster puppies to play with too! You all do amazing work and it was a pleasure to adopt a dog from Mag Mutts. Let me know if your ever at the hillside petco events and we'll try to come see you!

Hi Wayne,

I wanted to let you know that Dayton (Dalton) has been doing great. We decided to call him Dayton instead. We went with us to a triathlon this Saturday and he did wonderfully. He got to meet lots of people and dogs and just had so much fun that he slept the 3 hours home. We are so glad and happy that he came to live with us. He has adjusted well and is eating all his food with no problem. We really think it's funny how he sits only partially on the couch. We will get you some photos soon.

There were a few delays in getting the house, but we should be closing on the Friday the 7th and moving in on the 8th and 9th. Dayton's going to get this own yard this weekend.

Here are some pictures of our new dog Samson. He definitely likes Jim! Samsone is about 1.5 years older, maybe a little younger, and thinks he is a lap dog. Obviously a lab mix. We got him through a no kill shelter called Magnificent Mutts this past Saturday.

Jim named him Samson because he is strong and has beautiful hair (coat)! His coat is jet black and shiny!!!

Our little Pilar

My husband and I were considering whether to bring a dog into our lives and home for a while before we decided that we were ready. We found Magnificent Mutts on Pefinder.com; went to a PetCo event on August 27th and found our dog. We named her Pilar, a Spanish name for a female, which represents the pillar that the Virgin Mary made an appearance on in Spain many ages ago. While it does not have religious meaning to us in particular, her name took on new meaning as a week after we brought Pilar home, we found out that my dear cat, Tulio, had cancer. Tulio went to heaven a few weeks after he met Pilar, and since then she has certainly been a pillar to me. Pilar is a good natured dog, with puppy behaivors, and high intelligence. She was easily house-trained with few accidents (even in a high-rise building) and became lease trained almost immediately. She became crate-trained right away and she missed her mommy and siblings for just a few short nights. She is healthy, is going
to receive her 12 week old shots today and will be microchipped again, (the vet said the microchip must have fallen out). She is small for what we believe her breeds to be, so we will be doing a doggy DNA to determine her breed make-up, as we may be in for a surprise! We expect her to weigh about 30 pounds when fully grown even though we think she is a GSD/Lab mix. She is extremely friendly and she bites a lot, because she is teething, just like a human child. She loves expensive bully sticks and long walks. Long walks tire her out and make her a bit cranky like a small child, but we are sure that she will love to be tired once she is older. We love Pilar and she is a blessing to us. She's a beautiful smart kind dog. Even though we love her so much and we are happy she is in our lives, we encourage EVERY pet owner to BE RESPONSIBLE and have their pet spayed and neteured. Pets should only be brought in this world when there is already someone lined up to love them and care
for them. We would love to tell Pilar how her brothers and sisters fared, so if you think you might have one, please post.

Lionel (the pup formerly known as Woogie) is loving city life! On his daily walks around the neighborhood, he stops to say hello to every person we pass. He especially likes to watch kids playing in the park and rolling around with all his new toys. We're still working on potty training, but he's picking up many new tricks quickly. He's a showman and a lover, everyone who meets him falls for his sweet nature. He's having a ton of fun with his new family.

Our next adventure is a vacation to North Carolina, where he'll get to play in the sand and waves on the sunny coast.

Hi Deb,

Just took Bailey for her 16 week check up and shots. She is doing great! She is 22.5 lbs and is full of energy. We went camping in WI this past weekend and she loved hiking and swimming in the lake. Everyone is always amazed when we say that she was a shelter dog, and they say "who would give such a cute puppy away". She is already house trained (has been for a few weeks) and has learned several tricks like ringing the bell to go outside, "sit" and "paw". She was even our camp guard dog. If anyone came onto our site she would give us a low growl to let us know that someone was near. We are so happy that she is part of our family!

Lola is doing great! She was very mellow on Sunday, she came out to my moms....they kept joking...she is sooooo calm for a puppy they wonderered when the drugs would wear off..ha! Gryffin's Story

I had made up my mind that I was going to adopt a puppy next Spring. And then I made the mistake of signing up for the daily email from Adopt-a-Pets. And the very first email I got had a picture of Gryffin and his siblings, the most adorable beagle/vizsla puppies I had ever seen. They, with their mom, had been abandoned on the shoulder of a highway in Kentucky. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get the pictures of those puppies out of my mind. When my son and daughter and I met Gryffin and his two siblings a few days later, I instantly fell in love with him. His two siblings were barking and jumping around, and he just sat quietly with his head on my shoulder. I needed another 24 hours to make sure I was emotionally ready for a puppy, but I just felt from the time I held him that he was my puppy. It was only a matter of time before he came home to us.

We haven't regretted it for a moment. We are completely in love with him. In the two weeks that we've had him, he's grown like a weed - it's like someone stretched out his body length-wise. He's a traveler - he's already been on a plane to and from Colorado for vacation. He loves his crate, and goes in there to sleep even during the day. He's definitely found his voice - his puppy bark is quite loud when he sees our cat. Like most puppies, he loves shoes. If you forget to put them out of his reach, you are likely to find that they've been carried away. And we've learned that if he's intently sniffing around the carpet, you'd better get him outside quickly, or you're going to be cleaning the carpet.

Our experience with Magnificent Mutts was wonderful. Gryffin is healthy, happy and adored. He was obviously very well cared for in his foster home. He is part of our family, and we couldn't be more delighted.

Here is a pic of the boys in their new backyard. We moved about a week or so ago and have such a huge backyard and because of their ability to climb fences that we opted for an invisible fence. The boys are doing well with it. Connor does not like all the bunnies that come out and tease him but loves the big open area they have to play. My parents were in town for the weekend helping me out because I was having my first (and only!) garage sale on Friday and Saturday. Echo is doing wonderful INSIDE our home; outside, she is still a little shy "creeping" around and learning her new boundaries. It has taken him this entire week to actually "run" around in the yard for the very first time TODAY:-)))) He was quite comical on the hard wood floors, poor thing, but in a few days, he mastered walking on them as well. His favorite spot in the entire house continues to be my daughter's BED, as that was his very first spot he chose as "comfort & security" the day we brought him home. My black Lab gets along with him just fine and there have been no real issues. We are all madly in love with him and so was just about every customer that stopped by at

Hey there!

I haven't written you guys in a while, but I wanted to give you an update on
Riley (or Boo known from Mag. Mutts.) Riley and I moved to the city because I am
now going to school at UW-Milwaukee for radiology! Riley is doing great and I
can tell she really loves it here because her tail is always wagging. :) My
parents miss having her around since we moved out. She's very protective and
loving; they miss having a watch dog at night.

Living in Milwaukee honestly wouldn't be the same without her here. She's the
best friend I could ask for. Every morning she waits patiently for me to open my
eyes before she pounces my bed and attacks me with kisses! It's the best way to
wake up in the morning. I'm not exactly sure what her history was before I
adopted her in March 2007 because I was told her parents were seized from a drug
house, but her health is phenominal!!

Here is a picture that you posted back in 2007 when I adopted her, and here are
a few pictures of her in my car yesterday driving around in the city and our new
home! Thanks again for the difference you have made in our lives.

Finally, though difficult to keep Eisha still, we were able to take two pictures of her. She is a "trip"! Rarely barks but her assortment of sounds, low guttural, low to high howling, yelling, when she greets people at the door makes everyone laugh. She is very, very social and for her favorite people she puts on a special sound show. Loves her walks, riding in the car,.hides in the shower stall during storms, minds very well, and very energetic for a 9 1/2 year old. My niece says she looks to be part Cow dog (Australian Cattle Dog) - checked them out through the internet and she does have the same fur color along with head shape and ears. All and all we sure enjoy her and, yes, she has us wrapped around all 4 paws. Joe and Lorelei

After our German Shepherd Dog was getting too aggressive and bit a couple people, we surrendered him over to the Animal Control Center in Rockford. It broke our hearts and there were many tears from us. We still miss him and he was a SUPER dog to our family. But the house was empty and did not feel like a home without a dog.

Our new Chocolate Lab mix (Shorthaired pointer? Golden Retriever?) is super sweet. Godvia has taken to our home perfectly and even enjoys the two cats. She LOVES our two boys, 7 and 4 and has followed them around the house since our arrival home. She is a welcomed and already loved member of the family.

I just wanted to check in and let you know that Horton seems to be acclimating very well. He and Kaya (the cat) only had one or two tense moments when she realized he was coming into her space. They seemed to have figured out how to handle that and are learning to move around each other. He has also figured out how to let use know that he needs to go out and has been a perfect gentleman all around. I've scheduled a vet appointment for him later in the week and I'm looking into some where that I can get him bathed as well. I'll keep you updated with news and pictures. Thank you to Magnificent Mutts for letting us adopt our "Ash Ash", aka...Ashley on Nov 21, 2009¢¾ Being almost completely blind hasn't stopped this spunky girl's new found lease on life! Only skid-dish during a thunderstorm/fireworks now, Ash knows her way around the house, & backyard. She greets me every morning with a shower of kisses, and walks over to the closet door to point out her leash for a walk! This is the first time I've ever had a singing dog....a high pitched sound to get my attention...lol ¢¾ She is beautiful...her new coat came in shiny & soft in only a few months! We think she is 1/2 Border collie, 1/8 Springier Spaniel (springs when running), 1/8 terrier (terrier facial fuzz), 1/8 Chow (blue spotted gums/upright bushy tail), & 1/8 Beagle (floppy ears, spots on tummy)! So, I live with my mother, who is in her 80's with mobility issues and a heart condition, and a high anxiety level. For three years, she told me, "I want a dog!" I finally asked her what kind she wanted, and she responded, "I want a Rottweiler!" Well, knowing that this is a wonderful breed in the right hands, and that we are not those hands, and being a non-obsessive person, I spent the next three years doing dog research, and came up with a list: no puppies, no dog breeds over 30 lbs., female dogs are generally calmer, and no high energy needs to be walked 400 miles a day kind of dog breeds.

Then, July 18, 2008 came along, and we went to PetSmart to get cat food. (Did I mention we already had a cat?) Of course, there was an adoption day going on, and two strategic errors happened: Mama got out of the car, which she never does, and when I got to the back of the store I looked into the pen of puppies, and he was sitting there looking back at me saying, "OH HAI!" And I picked him up. It was all over at that point. I mean, after all, how could you resist that face?

The good news is that after three years of dog research, I knew what I was in for, and Salty Dog has been a fantastic addition to our family. He's great with kids and the elderly/handicapped, and is an all-around ham. He loves the cats, who aren't quite as sure about him. He's the best thing that ever happened to our house, and quite frankly, he knows it. He's my good boy, and I don't know where I'd be without him!

Foster pup Libby found her wonderful forever family last July 2010 and oh boy did she ever hit the jackpot with a great family to show her just how good her life can be. Little Libby fooled us all as a foster pup with her shy ways but she has just become the most confident and loving girl in her forever home with her 3 human siblings and her fur sibling Bogey. As you can see from the picture Libby loves to spend snuggle time on the couch with her furry brother Bogey. Bella and Thelma spent lots of time runing around when we got home and i woke up in the middle night to find them cuddle up next to each other. She has to be the most affectionate kitten i have ever seen. As I type this, Bella is at my feet and Thelma is on my lap!

Hi Angie,

It was such a pleasure meeting you last night and learning more about baby TJ, I know she had a tough day yesterday like us, but by 8pm last night she was settled back in at hom and purring like a machine. Here are a few pictures of her getting settled in!

Hi Linda

Auggie is doing rather well today. He ate good yesterday and this morning (the chicken and rice) and slept all night between John and I. Little Telly is doing ok. So far so good. He slept through the night and has been doing his potty outside like a good boy.

Thank you so much for everything. They are the joy of our lives. I've attached a picture of our 4 joys. The 5th joy our grand doggie was busy sleeping on a chair.

I will let you know when I hear back from the dr about the blood tests on Auggie

Hello Magnificent Mutts!

We adopted the most wonderful little puppy from you last Saturday, and wanted to give you an update on how she is doing. We we lucky enough to take Blondie home. We have renamed her Fiona, which is Gaelic for fair, but have kept Blondie as her middle name! By nature, I believe she is an incredibly wonderful and sweet little puppy, but I also think a great deal of her temperament is due to the wonderful care she received in foster care with your organization. She is extremely well socialized with other dogs and people. She knows and responds to "sit" and is working on "lay" and "come". She has not yet had an accident. She absolutely loves having her family home, whether she is sitting on our lap or just chilling on her own. She went to the vet on Tuesday and got a clean bill of health. Overall, she seems to be adjusting very well to her now home. I have attached some pictures we have taken of her over the past week. We love her very much!

Please pass this along to all the wonderful people who took such amazing care of our baby girl while she was in their care. We can't thank you enough for all of the dedication you have to making the lives of these sweet dogs so much better.

We have been so lucky to sophie in our lives! She has fit in so well and is one of the kids now!
Sophie and our Boxer/Border Collie, Shelby, are loving ever minute of being together! They each have a bed, but are always in one together!!!!

Adopting Lilith who is now known as Nina

My name is Anna Marie. My boyfriend and I were looking for a kitten to keep our one year old male cat company and we just wanted another cat. Our male cats name is Houdini and he is very frisky. We adopted a little black female kitten named Lilith who is now named Nina. She is a mini me of Houdine only female. They just love each other. Houdini is a little rough with her but we keep a good eye on them and of course have to seperate them at times. They are wonderful companions for each other and for us. Houdini has become more friendly since we brought Nina home. I'm so glad we adopted her. There are so many homeless animals out there and I'm grateful to have her. We also adopted Houdini. He was adopted through an Animal Hospital. The volunteers from Magnificent Mutts were very nice, especially Amy who was Nina's foster Mom. Thank you so much!

Enzo's Happy Tail

Hi Vanessa, Andy, Sophie, and Olivia ~

We just wanted to provide you with some new pics of Pinky! We could not decide on a name, everything just sounded so cute, so we had to put it to a vote via email to our friends and family. The two names we were left to choose from were Enzo and Finnegan. We let my three year old Godson have the deciding vote, and Enzo took the cake! I was hesitant because it sounds so much like "no"...but he is doing well with it.

He is a riot! He keeps Truman busy. We always know where Enzo is because Truman is right by his side. They are doing so well together, and you're right, the little guy is incredibly resilient! He is doing great with "potty training." He has not gone at ALL in his crate, and has had only had about 4 or 5 accidents in the house. We are so surprised by how quickly he caught on to his new environment and his own little routine. He gets very distracted when he eats, usually because he wants to know what Truman is eating, but we just redirect him back to his bowl and then he remembers.

He has been such a bright spot and we are absolutely in love with him. He is just always so happy and affectionate. As I write this, he is laying against me sleeping on his back. He just learned how to do stairs today, so he is pretty tired from his big day!

Thanks again for doing such a great job raising him. We can tell he was well-socialized--nothing bothers him and he is so easygoing. We will definitely keep in touch and send more pictures. Although we probably aren't in a position to host foster dogs at this point, if you ever need supplies or anything else, let us know. We would be glad to help. We are very impressed with Magnificent Mutts!

Pinky/Enzo does have one question: How is his mom doing???

Bandit's Happy Tail

We got Bandit (aka) Scully when he was 2 months old. He is now 4 months old.
We lost our Rottie over a year ago. I thought I'd never get another dog. Boy was
I wrong. Bandit is such a joy to have. He is the sweetest dog. He loved the snow
when we had the blizzard. Thank you so much Magnificent Mutts for this wonderful
new family member.

Bosco aka Truf

We adopted Truf (now called Bosco) two and a half weeks ago and we can't thank you enough. What a terrific puppy! Since the day we brought him home, he happily went into his crate. He quickly learned where to do his business outside and is already ringing the bell (hanging on the door) when he needs to go out. He doing a pretty good job at walking on the leash without pulling. He has mastered "sit" and "lie down"...he's getting better at stay and we still have some work to do on "come." We working really hard at "fetch". He's good for about 5-10 retrievals and then he gets distracted and wanders somewhere else or comes bolting toward us without the ball. He enjoys running the fence with the much larger puppies next door, but he gets a little intimidated when put in the yard with them. The puppy across the street is a little younger and they play very well together. Bosco loves to play with Gramma's older shitzu (Wrigley), but we're not sure the feeling is mutual. H
e is the most curious puppy and we are so enjoying watching him discover his world. By the end of the day, we are all so tired...not sure who is wearing who out, but inevitable I find one of the kids on the floor with him curled up next to them...both sound asleep. Thank you again for this wonderful addition to our family.

Caprice (aka Barnabus) Happy Tail

When I first saw Caprice, later to be known as Barnabus, walk in he was all confident walk and big wagging puppy tail and not much has changed! He's already gaining a reputation in our neighborhood for being the friendliest puppy around! And the kids especially love to pet him because he's so soft and sits so well.
He's making good friends with the two big Newfoundlands who live in our neighborhood and already seems to think he's as big as them and should only play with the other big dogs! But he's already starting to learn how play nice and we're all looking forward to having fun and learning in puppy class!
I'm so grateful to Magnificent Mutts for rescuing this wonderful little boy! It sometimes scares me to think where he would have ended up if not for the care and compassion of all of their volunteers. Thank you again to all of you for all that you do, from me and Barnabus! :)
