Wilkommen Hans!
In March, we adopted our FIona (formerly Fendi), a 1 year old GS mix, from Magnificent Mutts. She has boundless energy and we felt she needed a playmate who could keep up with her, so we decided to get another dog. Seeing as my husband and I both love German Shepherds, we knew that was our number one choice. I saw Elgin, a 1.5 year old GSD. on Mag Mutts' Facebook page as well as the website, so I stopped by the adoption event to meet him. He was such a beautiful, sweet boy that I knew I wanted my husband to meet him too.- but it would mean waiting another week until the next event. Unfortunately, the following weekend, I was going to be out of town visiting a friend, so my husband would have to go alone to meet Elgin, and if things went well, he would have to introduce Elgin to Fiona without my help. Long story short, there was a lot of running back and forth between our house and the pet store, and we were in a time crunch because there was another family who was interested in him.
My husband had to give me updates over the phone; I felt like I was brokering a business deal! Finally, the good news was that Elgin was ours. The dogs had gotten along well, and my brave (or foolish) husband drove all the way home with both dogs in the back seat. Fortunately, they all made it home in one piece! We felt that our new boy needed a good German name, so he was christened "Hans", and we soon realized how smart he is when he learned it in a matter of minutes! He was a very anxious boy the first few days- pacing, panting, and constantly working a tennis ball in his mouth....but he quickly realized he was in a good place, with food, water, toys, and a loving family- no more runnning the streets of Elgin, eating God knows what! (That's where he got his name!) Hans is very protective and ultra-vigilant. He follows me everywhere I go! He is a ball of energy and never tires of roughhousing with his sister Fiona. We joke that he thinks he's her size (He's tried to get on our
laps several times) and she thinks she's his size! He is a good boy and we are happy to have him as part of our family.

Yola
Dear Linda,
Yolo is SOOO amazing! I cannot thank you enough. He is just fabulous.
He is so sweet and smart. I cannot say enough good things about him.
I love him so much! I attached some pictures of him in his new yard -
he LOVES it. He is quite intrigued by the chipmonks that live in the
stairs of the deck. He follows me everywhere and seems very happy. He
slept at the foot of the bed, although he would have slept in it if it
were up to him!
He drank from my son's bath water, much to Conner's amusement. He is
out for a walk with my husband right now. I will let you know how
training goes.
Thank you!! Your rescue work is incredible.

Aries aka Rudy
Hi.
I can't believe it's been over three years since we adopted Aries, now known as Rudy.
He is doing well. He is about 74 lbs (he was 55 when we got him). His main health issue is that he has a bad left hip. But that doesn't stop him from chasing bunnies and squirrels. He loves to play with balls and chews his nylabone like crazy. He also likes to borrow a shoe or slipper if we leave them lying around. And whenever an ambulance or fire engine goes by with the sirens blaring he always howls. It's quite hilarious. And a handsome lad as well.
Take care.

Stella and Bailey
Stella (formerly Amira) and Bailey (formerly Ammo) were siblings in a litter of 6 who were both adopted the weekend of July 13th. By coincidence I was walking Stella near my home in the South Loop (Chicago) when a girl approached me asking me how I wound up with Bailey. She happened to be a dog walker who walks Bailey. After some discussion we figured out that Stella and Bailey were litter mates and called Bailey's owners, who it turns out live just a few blocks from us in the South Loop. She was home and we immediately went to visit. Stella and Bailey recognized each other immediately (picture 1). The other pictures is us holding our puppies (probably for the last time), as you can see Bailey is a big boy (29 lbs. in this pictures), Stella as about 22 but has now reached 28 lbs. herself. It would be great if we find more of their litter mates in the neighborhood! Stella continues to bring so much joy to us, we are so happy to have her!

Lab 6 and 8, now Abby and Kylie
Hi Michelle,
I just wanted to give you an update on Lab 6 and Lab 8 (better known as Kylie and Abby now) who we adopted back in March. As you can see from the pictures a lot has changed over 6 months!
Abby -- the dark buff beauty -- has turned into the friendliest dog that I have ever met in my life. She has to "kiss" everyone on the face when she comes into a room and has to say goodbye before she leaves. She is smart as a whip and she isn't afraid to remind us of it every single day. Needless to say, she is a constant source of amusement. We are currently researching the process for turning her into a therapy dog... she is more that made for the "job" and we think that she would delight in it.
Kylie -- the pretty light buff girl -- has turned into my little princess. She wants to spend every minute possible with her "Momma" -- but she is quite satisfied to settle for her Dad every once in a while. She is by far the more vocal of the two and will let us know of any whim that she needs catered to. All in all, she is our big (and we mean big -- 63.5 lbs at 8 months) baby.
Both of them are truly the lights of our lives... I cannot imagine life without them.
Thank you for all that you do to help put families together as you have done to ours.
We will try to keep you posted as life progresses.
Thanks again,
Donna and Kevin Jagow
