Dex's Happy Tail

Hi Angie,
I wanted to send a THANK YOU to you and Dax's foster mom (sorry I forgot her name) for spending the time with me on Saturday when I adopted Dax. Now known as "Dex" short for Dexter . You both answered all my questions ( I know I had alot)...You really listened to what I was looking for in a cat and found us the perfect match!
We found Rocky 3 years ago as a 12 week old stray puppy. We weren't looking for a dog but then one day he shows up and has been a member of the family ever since. He is so gentle and loving with the kids, I wouldn't trade him for anything.
My daughter has been asking for a cat for 6 months... But with Rocky, I didn't see how that was going to work. Then we just happen to go to Petsmart (not knowing about the adoptions going on) to get something for my son's fish tank when who do we find...Dex.
I am truely amazed at how well he gets along with Rocky and puts up with my kids...lol. I believe he feels right at home . So far his 2 favorite spots (besides on the couch in front of the big window of course) are 1) in Rocky's crate (when he's not in there) or 2) on Rocky's bed in my daughters room. Surprisingly Rocky doesn't seem to mind at all. They like chasing each other, then laying down to rest. I actually think Rocky enjoys having him around. Here are a few pics of Dex ( and Rocky too).

Thanks again for helping us give Dex a home.

Wookie

hello, today we adopted Wookie at Petco in Elmhurst. She is a cute little black Lab pup. My husband changed her name to Fannie, aka Francesca Angelina. She has a big brother here, named Luigi. He is also a black Lab, age 7. The two have gotten along so well today. Lots of playtime, lots of running, including a long walk on leashes in the park with the whole family. They wore each other out after a few hours, so they both took a nap. But soon they were both wide awake and ready for more fun. We will post more information later in the week. We plan to take her to the vet on Tuesday. Luigi will show her the ropes in the neighborhood and the big backyard that we have, too. Toodles.

Dougal

We adopted Dougal a little toy people about 8 yrs, missing one eye and no teeth and just having had her spaying surgery done on Sat 2-12. She is a sweet. talented little Angel. She sleeps in her pink Barbie bed and has 3 new outfits to wear and loves our dog Shadow and all of the cats. She took one look at my husband Bill and she sat up on her hind legs and put her front paws up and he was in love. She eats wonderful, I make all of our dogs food, so she has yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken soup, poached egg, and ground chicken breast. She is learning the in and out of the patio door and my husband takes her out every 2 hrs or so and reports what she has done. I hope we have many more years with her as I think she has had a hard life but will be our baby now. As soon as I can bath her better and get her hair cut I will take pictures of the sweet little girl. You guys are so wonderful to help these poor helpless creatures an I will try to support you guys if I can. Tha
nk you again for the wonder little pet, it makes me feel a lot better since the loss of my Napoleon toy poodle who passed away at the age of 16 on Jan 27, 2011. Thank you Michele and Paula for being so helpful, Shadow has had the surgery today and is doing well. Thanks again, God Bless you guys

Happy Tail

Hi Courtney, Hi Wendy,

In case you guys are interested, we have finally received the DNA report back on 4-month-old Pepper (formerly Dancer/Reiney)... as it would also apply to her sister Blitz as well as her other 2 (tan) sisters.

I have attached page 1 from the report we received. There is still the unknown mixed line (due to the fact that those two grandparents were already mixed breeds). Otherwise, its pretty straightforward (back 3 generations).

Thanks,

Ron, Liz, Otto, and Pepper

Max's Happy Tail

Max (aka Gideon) is doing great!!! Of course everybody says German Shepherd???? That's a ROTTWEILER!

He is a doll!! I've attached a shutterfly photo album of pictures taken by a friend/teammate of mine that is a professional photographer.

Yes, I got the stuff you gave to Randy. Thanks - he'll get the microchip put in on the 25th which is his next vet appointment.

Rich brought his puppy in the other day (Harley) and she's a real cutie too!!

Please let the foster mom (I think you said her name was Kathy) I shared photos that I took the night you brought all the puppies out and EVERYONE has commented on how great the puppies look - so healthy & happy and all said the foster mom did a really great job.

Thanks for the followup on the adoption. I'd love to swap photos with other owners of pups from the litter - it would be really cool to see who turns out looking like a shepherd and who turns out looking like dad (whatever he was).

I'll send photos as he grows. Feel free to share them with Kathy and others from the shelter.

Thanks again

Carol

Harley's Happy Tail

Hey, y'all!

Here are a couple shots of Harley, our new dog. He is very much a lover, a lapdog, and very laid back. He loves walks, and has to take one of his toys along. Which is soo cute. So far he has only barked at silhouettes at night... perhaps a left over from living on the street. And he growled at his reflection in the oven door once, but figured it out quickly. He is a year old and has only eaten one shoe (so far). We are having a little challenge with the potty training, he doesn't seem to 'get' it. But we are hopeful this will be solved soon.

Anyway, just wanted to get an introduction out. He makes the house feel like home again.

So Happy With Jovi

Hi,

Wanted to let you know how extremely happy we are with our latest addition, Jovi who we adopted from your rescue. She is such a loving and playful girl and she is so good with our 8 year old son Nick! She is always wagging her tail and seems so happy, I only hope she is as happy as we are. She loves to play with her new big brother Storm, and he is thrilled to finally have a playmate of his energy caliber!! This is the first time another dog has ever tired him out! We can't put into words how wonderful it feels to give Jovi her forever home!! Thank you!!

Happy Tail

Hello,
We just wanted to let you all know we are having a ball. Snowball, now Squeakers, is doing wonderfully. She has mastered ours stairs and runs full force up them and to the door to be let out. While it's been great for the potty training I think she just wants to be outside all the time. You were right about everything, including how helpful Hunter has been. She helps take her for walks. Keeps an eye on her when I 'm making dinner. And plays with her. Squeakers misses her when she's at school. I guess I'm not as fun. A big Thank You from us and Squeakers. We are all a perfect fit. Also do you happen to know her exact birthday. Hunter would love to put it on the calender.
Again thank you so much,
Jennifer, Neal, Hunter and Squeakers

Jagger's 1 yr. anniversary

Just wanted to thank you guys again! 1 year ago today 1/10/10 we adopted a little 10lb fur ball puppy named Jagger. He and his sister (who was adopted as well) were left off a Kentucky country road to be forgotten. Luckily your organization, with your countless runs out to Kentucky to save animals, found these 2 just in time. My wife and I, also our other dog/his new sister Bailey couldn't imagine life without him. He is now about 14 months old and 100lbs with plenty of personality to spare. Not only does he now have a great home for life, he was also discovered and may possibly be on the covers of upcoming food bags etc. Rags to Riches for sure.

Thanks,

John, Kristy, Bailey, and Jagger Underwood

Cisco now Benny

My boyfriend, Matt and I adopted Benny (originally Cisco) on October 2, 2010. We went to the Brookfield Zoo for the adoption event. After looking and playing with nearly all of the dogs there, which was a lot, we were getting ready to leave. We just hadn't found the right dog for us. On our way out we came across a puppy just laying calmly on the ground amidst everything going on around him. As soon as we saw him, we thought he was the one. Unfortunately when we asked, they told us that he was already being adopted. We were heartbroken, but thought we'd take one more walk through the event. We went back to the Magnificent Mutts tent after our walk and saw a dog we wanted to play with. They told us that she was being adopted, but they had another dog. When they brought him out, it was Benny! They told us that some one wanted to adopt him but changed their mind. We have had Benny now for three months and we couldn't imagine our lives without him. He loves the outdoors, going fo
r car rides, and playing with our cat, Kingston. He has also made friends with a few of the dogs in our neighborhood, who he has doggy play dates with. We love Benny so much, and want to thank you for rescuing him so that we were able to bring him into our home!
Sincerely,
Alison

Baby Boy grows up!

I work for Petco. In August a call came out for help. Our entire region was asked to help out by fostering dogs for Mag Mutts because they had been overloaded with dogs from the Southern region of Illinois. I always told myself, I can't have a dog because it just doesn't fit. But I can foster. This was my first time out of the gate fostering and well....I failed miserably. I fostered a 4 week old Border Collie Lab Mix named "Baby Boy", now known as Tytus and about a 1 year old Terrier mix named Snoopy. Snoopy was a great dog, but he got sick and had to go stay at the vet a week into the fostering. (No worries though, we found him a great home at the adoption event held in Naperville later that week!!!) Tytus came home with me that day and it was decided, this was the perfect puppy for me and my family. He has two brother-in-laws (Slayer and Royal) and a sister-in-law (Scoobie) that make his day. He even has a best friend named Bittie who lives next door. He loves t
o play with other dogs. He wears himself out playing with them often. Even with his sassiness of being an almost 6 month old puppy, he has brightened every day of my life. His favorite thing to get him in trouble is paper. Tissue, toilet, cardboard, or flyers that he can sneak off the counter, out of the bathroom garbage when the door is open, etc. He also loves his toys. He has finally figured out that with his big boy teeth that he can tear the stuffing out of them and get the squeakers! I take him anywhere and everywhere I can. He just loves to meet other people and dogs. He has been through puppy class and passed. Tytus is spoiled rotten and he deserves every bit of it. He is just a bundle of joy that I love and I thank everyone at Mag Mutts for making my life richer and more rewarding everyday because of Tytus. (Pictures are of Tytus in his bed when he was 13 weeks old, Tytus and his inlaws, Scoobie and Slayer when he was 16 weeks old and his professional ph
oto on 12-5-10)

Abby aka Anabell

From the moment we met Abby we knew she was a sweetheart. We adopted her in November and she loves her new home. She loves going on walks, running in her new yard, playing in the snow and just being around the family. We had our first Christmas with her and she enjoyed opening her presents. We love having her as part of the family and enjoy being with her all the time. She is so full of energy and always ready to play. Thank you for your service which allowed us to meet Abby.

Sadie-formerly Salem

When we adopted our first dog, Cosmo, almost 3 years ago we instantly became "dog people". We knew that eventually we would love to add a second dog to our family. When our cat, of 18 years, passed away this summer we decided it was time to get Cosmo a new buddy. We instantly began looking on PetFinder.com. We had gone to see a few dogs and puppies but none of them felt right. Then we saw Salem at Magnificent Mutts. We set up an appointment with Eileen to meet Salem. From the moment we saw her we knew Salem was the one. Cosmo, on the other hand, was not so sure and started growling and showing his teeth. Uncomfortable with bringing her home that night we waited until the next day to think it over. Determined to make it work we went to the adoption event at the Hillside Petco the next day and made Salem, now known as "Sadie", the newest member of our family. When we brought her home we followed the advice of the volunteers at Magnificent Mutts for introducing Cosmo to his
new baby sister. After a short "meet and greet" in the back yard things seemed to be going well so we moved into the house. To our delight, in only a couple of hours Cosmo was even laying with Sadie on the floor in the kitchen, which is their first official photo together. Over the weeks Cosmo became more and more used to Sadie and her puppy habits. It has been about 2 months since we got Sadie and they are now the best of buddies and play all the time. Aside from being a little slow on the potty training (though she has been making great progress with some tips from the vet) we have no complaints about Sadie. She is the sweetest girl with the best disposition and loves to cuddle. She has even helped her big brother Cosmo shed a few extra pounds by all the romping in the yard! Sadie has been a wonderful addition to our family and we thank Magnificent Mutts for helping bring her into our home and all that they do every day.

I love my bully, Peanut-Butter

Hi my name is Fabian; I just adopted my new best friend, peanut butter a pit bull. Peanut is sooo good and so loving once he gets to know you, I guess he doesn't like video games or TV because he ate both my Xbox and my TV controller, but is cool. He makes me laugh so much, even more when he plays with Gizmo a 2 year old yorky , the yorky is peanuts bully but peanut just puts him on the floor with just one paw to let him know who is the boss, the big powerful pit-bull, my gentle giant. Today he was having a lot of fun playing on the snow with Gizmo and eating snow too. Did I mention he pushes me off the bed? It's ok, at least I am really warm at night. I can't wait to get home to play with him after work every night. He is one cool dog, a man's dog.
