Hi Magnificent Mutts,
Here is an update on Bandit (aka Snoozlebug) one of Mustang Sally's pups adopted in Feb 2013. I had never trained a puppy before, so I was a little freaked out bringing him home. However, as puppies go, I would say he was pretty easy. He was house trained in no time, loves his crate, and really doesn't get into much. Our biggest issue early on was his nipping at the children and being very mouthy. Thankfully he grew out of that. At 7 months, he 's about 58 pounds, so he should be a medium/large size dog, which is perfect for us. I love to look him in the eye and say, "Who are you and what have you done with Snoozlebug?" because he grew so fast. My best guess would be that he is mixed with Australian Shepherd, but his temperament is all German Shepherd. He is very playful, sweet, snuggly, smart, but not at all hyper. We have passed level II obedience training and are going to try to get our CGC in the fall. He knows how to walk on a leash, sit, stay, lie down, high five,
shake, kiss, and play dead. He no longer sleeps in his crate at night, instead he's become a huge bed hog. We live about 1 1/2 miles from a dog park which we visit almost daily. Bandit loves to play and wrestle with the other dogs there and has just recently become very interested in playing fetch with balls and frisbees. We like to joke that the dog park is his version of Disneyland: "the happiest place on earth". Bandit also has two human brothers 10 and 6, who absolutely adore him. They love to hang out in the back yard playing fetch and puppy soccer. He is completely spoiled with attention by everyone. Thank you Magnificent Mutts for helping us find our new family member. He is the perfect fit, we love our boy!
