Kelly aka Keller's Happy Tail

Keller is a blind, approx. 1.5 year old gorgeous female German Shepherd that had so much love to give even after all she had been through. Story has it she was left outside in the bitter cold chained to a tree with no shelter. A friend of the neighbor with a very large heart purchased a used dog house and placed it on the property for this poor girl to get out of the cold. This same friend worked very hard to see if the people would relinquish the dog to a rescue or shelter group so they could possibly find her a forever home that would give her the love she so well deserved. Magnificent Mutts Rescue was the group that took her into their warm; loving home and provided her temporary love/shelter until they were able to find a forever home for her. As soon as she was posted on the website we instantly received an application from a wonderful family requesting a meeting with her. We thoroughly checked out their application and called them out to meet the foster parent Fran
and Keller at Petco in Hillside. It was love at first sight. They both said that they had to have her. We knew by just the short period of time that Mary and Tracy had so much love for the two dogs that they have already that they would be a great match for Keller. They brought pictures of their current dogs and told us how they already have a bed for Keller. We told them that if they were ready we could do paperwork right now and they could take her home with them. They were so excited, you could see it in their faces. They didn't realize that they could bring her home this very minute. It made us so very happy knowing that she was going to a home that was able to provide her with so much love and patience that she would need to bring her out of her protective shell. She just needs to know that someone loves her and will be there to protect her if needed. These are the two people that can do this for her. Our group thanks you so much for adopting this beautiful
girl from us. This story is not from the adopter it's from !

volunteer in the group.

They have recently sent us an update as to how she was doing and it was already posted a day or so ago. Attached are some before and after pictures.

Lilly

Hi Terri and Heather!
We wanted to say thank you so much for helping us adopt Lilly! She has become fast friends with our 3 year old shepard, Miller. He is being a great big brother and the two play constantly. They love to steal toys from each other and run around the house like a bunch of nuts. Our cat, Buddy, had made a lot of progress with Lilly in the last week. When she first got home, Buddy did not want anything do to with her but now he will come down to the family room area to check her out. He likes to check her out through the gate and will now even run around the family room with Lilly and Miller.
We went to out vet visit on Saturday and the tech said she had seen Lilly at the intial intake and that she looked great! Her checkup went well and she did good in the car. We are going to start puppy kindergarten next month after she finished her shots.
I've uploaded a couple of picutres and will post again to let eveyone know her progress.
Thanks again!

Pepper aka Dancer

Hi Wendy,

I have attached five pictures below of Pepper in the snow today.

But first, I have also attached two additional pictures that I found online (of the puppies from your website - via petfinder). Could you please confirm whether (or not):
A) All 4 of these puppies are from the same litter (??)
B) The larger dog (in the photo by the Christmas tree) is the mother or just a another dog at the house(??).

Thanks!
Ron

Ted's Happy Tail

Hello!

Last week when I looked on your site there were 9 new puppies coming to your way (german shepherd mix) are they still available?

BTW! I adopted from you a little over 6 months ago a Husky mix names Ted. We changed the name to Nico and I just wanted to say thank you again for allowing us to take him home. He is an amazing addition to our home. I've attached a picture to show you how big he is now. We are possibly thinking of getting Nico a little buddy so thus why the question above. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you again!
Ania

Eisha's Happy Tail

Eisha has been a Weller for 10 days and what a delight!!!!!!! Had a hunch when I saw her bio and picture on Pet Finder that she was the one for us. She was very skittish at first - didn't like our tile floors at the entry and in the kitchen but to eat she had to walk on it - loves our family room because we allow her to sit on our couch next to my husband so that he can pet her - had her to the vet where she received a clean bill of health with the exception of bad ear infections - she allows me to give her her medication in the ears which most dogs would run and hide if they think it's ear cleaning time - she minds extremely well - family all love her and she thrives on them petting her - took her to our Groomer and Laura, the one that always took care of our Copper, loved her and said Copper gave Eisha to us - she gets her walks everyday but now we spell the word "walk" because hearing the word she cries and runs around in circles with excitement until we finally put the
halter and leash on her - so much more but to summarize our Eisha, it's as if she has always been ours. It's quiet apparent whoever had her was good to her because she is so calm and so willing to give love and shows no indication of having been harmed.

This weekend we will take some pictures of her to forward to you.

Kelly aka Keller's Happy Tail

Hello Linda,

We just wanted to let all of the wonderful people involved with the rescue of Keller the blind German Shepherd. We didn't want to use anyone's email without your consent, so are sending it to you to forward to all.

Kelly, as we have now named her, is one remarkable dog. It is so hard to believe that after all she has been through, she just takes everything in stride. She is the perfect passenger in the car - just lays down and enjoys the ride.

Kelly loves to explore and doesn't seem shy about going to new places. She loves humans, but expectedly shows some defensive behavior to other dogs. At this point, we are just letting her enjoy the safety of her own home/area and she enjoys her new siblings through a gate.

Our vet said that she has a bit of respiratory rattle, so she is on antibiotics, but other than that, she is a picture of health. She is one tough little girl.

She picked up the layout of 4 rooms right away and has already learned to "step up" and "step down" to navigate our patio door and stoop. By this afternoon she decided that she wanted to take on the stairs to the second floor. She was so very excited that there was even more to explore! I guided her down the stairs by her collar and she did it without fear. Now that we know she can do that, time for another gate!

Sorry haven't had time to upload pictures, but will send them in a few more days.

We thank all of you for the wonderful thing you did for her (and all the other dogs previously!). She touches the hearts of all she meets. We are so very luck to have her.

Dex's Happy Tail

Hi Angie,
I wanted to send a THANK YOU to you and Dax's foster mom (sorry I forgot her name) for spending the time with me on Saturday when I adopted Dax. Now known as "Dex" short for Dexter . You both answered all my questions ( I know I had alot)...You really listened to what I was looking for in a cat and found us the perfect match!
We found Rocky 3 years ago as a 12 week old stray puppy. We weren't looking for a dog but then one day he shows up and has been a member of the family ever since. He is so gentle and loving with the kids, I wouldn't trade him for anything.
My daughter has been asking for a cat for 6 months... But with Rocky, I didn't see how that was going to work. Then we just happen to go to Petsmart (not knowing about the adoptions going on) to get something for my son's fish tank when who do we find...Dex.
I am truely amazed at how well he gets along with Rocky and puts up with my kids...lol. I believe he feels right at home . So far his 2 favorite spots (besides on the couch in front of the big window of course) are 1) in Rocky's crate (when he's not in there) or 2) on Rocky's bed in my daughters room. Surprisingly Rocky doesn't seem to mind at all. They like chasing each other, then laying down to rest. I actually think Rocky enjoys having him around. Here are a few pics of Dex ( and Rocky too).

Thanks again for helping us give Dex a home.

Wookie

hello, today we adopted Wookie at Petco in Elmhurst. She is a cute little black Lab pup. My husband changed her name to Fannie, aka Francesca Angelina. She has a big brother here, named Luigi. He is also a black Lab, age 7. The two have gotten along so well today. Lots of playtime, lots of running, including a long walk on leashes in the park with the whole family. They wore each other out after a few hours, so they both took a nap. But soon they were both wide awake and ready for more fun. We will post more information later in the week. We plan to take her to the vet on Tuesday. Luigi will show her the ropes in the neighborhood and the big backyard that we have, too. Toodles.

Dougal

We adopted Dougal a little toy people about 8 yrs, missing one eye and no teeth and just having had her spaying surgery done on Sat 2-12. She is a sweet. talented little Angel. She sleeps in her pink Barbie bed and has 3 new outfits to wear and loves our dog Shadow and all of the cats. She took one look at my husband Bill and she sat up on her hind legs and put her front paws up and he was in love. She eats wonderful, I make all of our dogs food, so she has yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken soup, poached egg, and ground chicken breast. She is learning the in and out of the patio door and my husband takes her out every 2 hrs or so and reports what she has done. I hope we have many more years with her as I think she has had a hard life but will be our baby now. As soon as I can bath her better and get her hair cut I will take pictures of the sweet little girl. You guys are so wonderful to help these poor helpless creatures an I will try to support you guys if I can. Tha
nk you again for the wonder little pet, it makes me feel a lot better since the loss of my Napoleon toy poodle who passed away at the age of 16 on Jan 27, 2011. Thank you Michele and Paula for being so helpful, Shadow has had the surgery today and is doing well. Thanks again, God Bless you guys

Happy Tail

Hi Courtney, Hi Wendy,

In case you guys are interested, we have finally received the DNA report back on 4-month-old Pepper (formerly Dancer/Reiney)... as it would also apply to her sister Blitz as well as her other 2 (tan) sisters.

I have attached page 1 from the report we received. There is still the unknown mixed line (due to the fact that those two grandparents were already mixed breeds). Otherwise, its pretty straightforward (back 3 generations).

Thanks,

Ron, Liz, Otto, and Pepper

Max's Happy Tail

Max (aka Gideon) is doing great!!! Of course everybody says German Shepherd???? That's a ROTTWEILER!

He is a doll!! I've attached a shutterfly photo album of pictures taken by a friend/teammate of mine that is a professional photographer.

Yes, I got the stuff you gave to Randy. Thanks - he'll get the microchip put in on the 25th which is his next vet appointment.

Rich brought his puppy in the other day (Harley) and she's a real cutie too!!

Please let the foster mom (I think you said her name was Kathy) I shared photos that I took the night you brought all the puppies out and EVERYONE has commented on how great the puppies look - so healthy & happy and all said the foster mom did a really great job.

Thanks for the followup on the adoption. I'd love to swap photos with other owners of pups from the litter - it would be really cool to see who turns out looking like a shepherd and who turns out looking like dad (whatever he was).

I'll send photos as he grows. Feel free to share them with Kathy and others from the shelter.

Thanks again

Carol

Harley's Happy Tail

Hey, y'all!

Here are a couple shots of Harley, our new dog. He is very much a lover, a lapdog, and very laid back. He loves walks, and has to take one of his toys along. Which is soo cute. So far he has only barked at silhouettes at night... perhaps a left over from living on the street. And he growled at his reflection in the oven door once, but figured it out quickly. He is a year old and has only eaten one shoe (so far). We are having a little challenge with the potty training, he doesn't seem to 'get' it. But we are hopeful this will be solved soon.

Anyway, just wanted to get an introduction out. He makes the house feel like home again.
