Ten Reasons To Volunteer At Magnificent Mutts!

Reason Ten:  Contribute to a cause you care about.  Whether your passion is dogs or cats, or helping people, becoming involved in a volunteer organization you care about makes it fun for you and for those you are committed to helping.
Reason Nine:  Meet people who share the same passion for your cause. Meeting people who share the same passion you have helps foster new friendships and makes helping animals fun!
Reason Eight:  Connect with the people in your community.  Being involved in a volunteer organization means getting out into your community and meeting the people who live there.
Reason Seven:  Feel better about yourself.  Nothing feels better than finding a forever home for an abandoned or abused animal, and knowing you helped make it happen!
Reason Six:  Develop new skills or enhance the ones you already have!  You might have a knack for fundraising or teaching a dog a new trick, but you need to find an outlet to use them or learn from someone else who already knows how.  Volunteering provides an opportunity for both!
Reason Five:  It's good for you mentally and physically.  Volunteering relieves stress . . . and we're not just saying that!  Volunteering puts your mind on something other than yourself, which takes the pressure off if even for a few hours.  Research has also shown it puts you in a better mood as well.
Reason Four:  Builds your resume and job skills.  Volunteering provides a forum for you to brush up on your communication, written, and people skills!
Reason Three:  It saves time and money.  As we all know volunteers don't get paid, but did you know the time and money then goes back to the organization you volunteer for.  So the time and money that would have been spent on an employee actaully goes to helping save more dogs and cats . . . the more volunteers the more animals we can help.
Reason Two:  Teaching others to give back.  When you become a volunteer, you talk about it with your friends and family.  Your setting an example for your kids and for others when you are a volunteer.
Reason One:  You make a difference!  There is a famous quote that says, ". . . Saving one pet won't change the world, but surely the world will change for that one pet.”  This is very true for each and every pet we rescue, and the mission of our organization.  Without our volunteers, we could not do what we do.  Thanks to all our volunteers!

Godiva - Chocolate Lab mix

Subject: Godiva and the boys

Eileen,

Thanks again for meeting us so that we could pick up our new addition to the family. She is a perfect dog and has followed the boys around the house since we arrived home. Here is a couple pictures for you.

Godiva teh Chololate lab is super sweet

After our German Shepherd Dog was getting too aggressive and bit a couple people, we surrendered him over to the Animal Control Center in Rockford. It broke our hearts and there were many tears from us. We still miss him and he was a SUPER dog to our family. But the house was empty and did not feel like a home without a dog.

Our new Chocolate Lab mix (Shorthaired pointer? Golden Retriever?) is super sweet. Godvia has taken to our home perfectly and even enjoys the two cats. She LOVES our two boys, 7 and 4 and has followed them around the house since our arrival home. She is a welcomed and already loved member of the family.

Thelma & Bella

Bella and Thelma, both rescues and happy as ever!

Horton

I just wanted to check in and let you know that Horton seems to be acclimating very well. He and Kaya (the cat) only had one or two tense moments when she realized he was coming into her space. They seemed to have figured out how to handle that and are learning to move around each other. He has also figured out how to let use know that he needs to go out and has been a perfect gentleman all around. I've scheduled a vet appointment for him later in the week and I'm looking into some where that I can get him bathed as well. I'll keep you updated with news and pictures. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Ash Ash aka Ashley

Thank you to Magnificent Mutts for letting us adopt our "Ash Ash", aka...Ashley on Nov 21, 2009¢¾ Being almost completely blind hasn't stopped this spunky girl's new found lease on life! Only skid-dish during a thunderstorm/fireworks now, Ash knows her way around the house, & backyard. She greets me every morning with a shower of kisses, and walks over to the closet door to point out her leash for a walk! This is the first time I've ever had a singing dog....a high pitched sound to get my attention...lol ¢¾ She is beautiful...her new coat came in shiny & soft in only a few months! We think she is 1/2 Border collie, 1/8 Springier Spaniel (springs when running), 1/8 terrier (terrier facial fuzz), 1/8 Chow (blue spotted gums/upright bushy tail), & 1/8 Beagle (floppy ears, spots on tummy)! Updated pic's to come soon! Thank you so much, Kim
