Roxy

Hi Karen,
I came across an email that I had with my dog's file with your name on it when we adopted (Deanna then) Roxie. We picked her up 11/10 – she was about a year old. She is THE BEST Dog ever!! I just wanted to let you know how much joy she has brought our family. I want to thank all of you soooo much for bringing her into our lives. Thanks again, Mike & Sue Murrow and Roxie.

Rusty

Hi Karen......Just found your business card and wanted to tell you how much we love Rusty. Hope you remember him. I have attached a picture of him with my husband. They are best buds. Can you believe it has over a year since we got him. We made a great decision when we adopted him.

Roxy aka BoPeep

Just wanted to let you know that all is well. We didn't get our girlfriend chipped yesterday because we weren't sure of the name. In the end, we came up with the name Roxie. She and Stella get along great. Roxie is doing well, a few accidents just due to excitement but slept the night perfectly. Thank you for all your help yesterday.

Joey aka Lena

My husband and I adopted Joey (formerly known as Lena) about 5 months ago. It has been on my "to-do" list to update the wonderful people at Mag Mutts so I apologize for just now getting around to it! We could not imagine our lives without Joey. She is just so sweet and well behaved, she loves to cuddle, go on walks and get routine belly rubs. Although it took some time, her and our resident cat, Kitty are now buddies. We thank Magnificent Mutts so much for our little girl Joey and want you to know she is happy, healthy and such a joyous part of our lives. Hope you enjoy our photos of Joey walking in the park in the big City, relaxing in the lazyboy and sharing the water bowl with her sister Kitty. We have and will continue to recommend your rescue to anyone we know looking to adopt a dog or cat.
Thanks Again!

Stella aka Amira now 10 months

Here is beautiful Stella, growing by leaps and bounds. Still the sweetest thing ever! She was 1 of 8 siblings adopted in July and we love her sooooo much, though sometimes we think she should have been named Bunny because she loves to hop and jump. Her favorite thing is to visit grandma's where she can run in the yard, try to get her older cousin to play and lay in the cats (3) bed chewing anything she can find that is not a toy!

Reese aka Mustang Sally

Hello Mag Mutts,

Wayne and Karen, attached are some pics of Mustang Sally, our Reese (like Reese Witherspoon :)....

She is doing very well and is now playing with our min pins. Things have also worked out well now for her and our kitty. It just took time and persistence and we're now confident with our cat walking freely through the house...Reese in intrigued by him but is good about not chasing him. I think in time, they'll play as our cat really loves dogs, and loves to play. He just is getting used to trusting Reese.

Reese is now enrolled at Narnia, for training. Karen, thanks for the recommendation!

Hope many more Magnificent Mutts pets have found homes...know that we love Reese already...she's great fun! She's doing great on leash training, loves her Kong Wubba and Joe is training her to trot slowly next to his bike as he rides (of course with a leash attached!). She loves the exercise!

Pretty

I had lost my dog of 14 years last June and fate was cruel to me. I lost my cat 6 months later. They were brother and sister and I missed them dearly. I finally decided it was time to get a new cat. A co-worker told me to go on petfinder.com and that is where I found Pretty. Someone had dumped her in a cart outside of a Petco. Thank goodness Petco brought the carts in and found her. She was taken in by a foster family that did wonders with her. They saved her for me. I brought her home Saturday. I don't have a lot of pictures yet but she did find the top of the refrigerator a safe haven until she got use to me and her new surroundings. She is coming around. She sleeps with me and when I had to get ready for work this morning, I almost cried. She followed me around and I gave her a kiss good-bye. I cannot wait to get home to see her. I hope to have better pictures soon. She is a walker every time I try to take a picture.

Sammie aka Sergio

Hi,

We just wanted to send you a note to thank you for bringing Sergio who we renamed Sammie into our lives. If you remember, we are the Mayer's and we came to your adoption event at Doggie Depot on February 23rd. I was the woman in the wheelchair that Sergio jumped right onto upon seeing me. He is doing wonderfully in our home. He is such a mama's boy. He loves his daddy but he is by my side constantly. He is very smart he knows how to sit when asked. He rarely barks and stops when told to. He knows stay sort of, and is learning the difference between lay down and get down. He has had only two accidents in the house since he came home with us and now knows how to let us know he needs to go out.

He is so funny. When he comes in from his walks he comes right to me to get his treat. He sits right down and waits patiently for me to give him his reward. He is also very happy to just hear me say he is a good boy and mama loves him. He gives endless and I do mean endless kisses. His favorite thing to do is be between Jack and I and giving kisses to us alternately. He is learning to play with his toys although he does not like to share them with me yet. He is learning to fetch he retrieves the ball but he does not like to give the ball back to me.

He mostly sleeps in bed with us. He like to sleep in between us both. Or he likes to burro under the covers on my lap or Jack's. We really love our Sammie and he seems to love us. He is eating well and has been to the vet. We are looking into specialized training for him. He has done fine the few times we have left him alone while we go out, but he know when I am leaving and jumps in my arms like he is afraid I am not coming back. I don't go out very often, so he will learn I will be back. Still, while we are gone he just sleeps on his blankie on the loveseat until we come back then he must be on my lap or held for a few minutes until he has adjusted to the fact that I am home. He is such a sweet and funny dog and we could not love him more. The more we talk about it, the more we are sure he chose us and we can not imagine ever having any other dog besides Sammie. I will keep you updated on his progress.

I also wanted to remind you that I very much want to volunteer at Magnificent Mutts. Just let me know what you need and what I can do to help you.

Sincerely,

Mary Mayer

Skruffy

I adopted Skruffy from Magnificent Mutts last July. I wanted to give you an update as to his progress. He loves his new home. He gets a little anxious when strangers come to visit but he is getting better all the time.
He is about to graduate from Obedience Class at the Schaumburg Park District next week. He is a quick learner so Obedience training has been a positive experience. He enjoys other dogs company and his night out.
He took a few short road trips to Michigan last summer after I adopted him and he adjusted well to different surroundings
We are looking forward to the spring where we can take lots of long walks in the forest preserves and to all kinds of exciting new things.
Thanks to everyone for getting him out of that shelter.

Astro

Hi karen!
We adopted the little liver chihuahua, astro, from you guys in may. I just wanted to wish you a happy new year and update you about our little man.
We're all in love with him, and he shares his love between all of us, which is nice that he doesn't pick favorites, like how some chihuahuas can be. He has even been caught sleeping with the cats, but he probably wouldn't admit that if he was awake.
A while ago we completed beginner and intermediate obedience, and just yesterday we finished an 8 week rally course at Stone City Kennel Club. He loves to work and please us. People at the club frequently point out how we have a great bond with him because it shows. They also love how he wags his tail the whole time we are working a course. Also, over the weekend, my mom took him to get his Canine Good Citizen certification, and he passed all tests on the first try (and she doesn't really even work on training him as much as me and Fidel!).
So long story short, we are so thankful you brought us together. And this truly is another happy tail .
Take care,
Jenny English

Bitsy aka Sophia

When we hear the term "service dog", a lot of us immediately picture a Golden Retriever helping his or her owner. There are some people who believe only certain breeds have what it takes to be a service dog. It might surprise you, but any dog can be a service dog. Just read the letter we received from one of our past adopters. It might make you rethink what services a rescue dog can do too.
I adopted a wonderful dog from you a little over 2 years ago. Her name at the time was Bitsy. She is a German shepherd mix, and was about 12 weeks old at the time. It was the picture of her on your website that kept me coming back and finally won me over, and when I met her I was done for.
To let you know, she still has the same eyes and is truly the sweetest dog. Her name is Sophie now. She just wants hugs . . . all the time. She will walk up to whomever... literally, as long as she knows they are okay with Mama...and lean heavily against them.
I have MS and a couple other issues and she is remarkably sensitive to my medical needs. We are training her to be my aide. She has shown an ability to predict when I will "lose my legs" and has broken my fall. She provides me support to stand back up. She will not leave my side when I am ill. I can get up 10 times and she won't budge, but the one time I am feeling woozy and don't even know it myself, she will get up with me and be there when I go down, and alert my husband if I pass out. She amazes me.
Thank you for my wonderful best friend. She is my baby and such a good girl. Sweetest. Dog. Ever.
A special thank you to Ally for sharing her story with us and maybe changing a few minds about rescue dogs becoming service dogs. We wish Ally and Sophie many happy and healthy years together.
