Marley Update

We have been looking at dogs to adopt on petfinder.com for a few months. We met quite a few dogs and learned so much in the process. Because of a painful unsuccessful adoption we decided that adopting from a shelter was not for us so our search was confined to dogs that were in foster homes. We have a 3 year old yellow labrador that is the best, most mellow and sweet dog we've ever had. We wanted another dog with the labrador temperament but didn't want another large dog. We thought for a moment about getting another puppy from our dog's breeder but we really wanted to adopt a rescue dog (those commercials on tv are so compelling!). So how could we ever find a small/medium (under 30 pounds) dog that is mixed with a labrador?

On memorial day I saw Marley on the Magnificent Mutts website. I nearly fell off my chair as you can see from the photos below, Marley is EXACTLY what we were looking for and more. He is an australian shepherd/yellow labrador mix weighing in at a petite 26 pounds! I immediately e mailed Marley's fantastic foster mom (ad nauseum) with question after question. She said he is good with other dogs, not afraid of men, loves children, doesn't bark, is housetrained, sweet and friendly. Usually when something seems too good to be true it usually is....... but not in this case.

Marley is everything she said he is and so much more. When we play fetch with his fuzzy small toys, then rub his belly I'm so glad we didn't let one bad shelter experience preclude us from adopting a rescue dog.

Thank you Magnificent Mutts for giving us the perfect new member of our family!
